Man Utd Target Poised To Fly-In For Liverpool Medical As Reds Close In On Attacker
Liverpool have beaten off competition from Man Utd to secure the signature of Adama Traore with the winger poised to fly-in to undergo a medical on Merseyside
With the summer transfer window in full swing, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Adama Traore looks set to join Liverpool…..
Liverpool appear to have beaten off competition from the likes of Manchester United to secure the signature of Adama Traore with the Barcelona winger poised to fly-in to undergo a medical on Merseyside, according to the Express.
Traore joined the Barca youth set-up in 2004 at the age of just 8 and has progressed through the ranks before being promoted to the B team in 2013 where he’s impressed over the past two seasons.
But he’s struggled to make the break-through in to Luis Enrique’s first team set-up as he’s managed to make just 4 appearances over the past two years and the 19-year-old’s potential has alerted clubs in the Premier League.
The Express claim that the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Stoke have all been showing a keen interest in luring the winger away from the Nou Camp this summer.
However, it looks like Liverpool have now won the race as the Express cite a report from Spanish outlet Sport that claims Traore is on the verge of making a move to Anfield.
The newspaper suggests that the teenager is simply waiting for a phone-call to confirm an agreement has been reached between the two clubs and will then travel to Merseyside to undergo his medical.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio had an update on the situation this evening as he claims that Liverpool have now secured a deal and Traore is ready to complete his move, so it does appear that Brendan Rodgers is closing in on another signing.
Nothing official has come out from either club as yet and it’s not made clear in any of the reports whether the move will be a loan or a permanent deal, but it would be something of a coup if Liverpool do end up signing Traore.
He’s highly rated at Barca after scoring 3 goals and providing 14 assists in his 37 games for the B team last season, and he’s already represented Spain at Under-19 level – although he recently decided to switch his allegiance to his native Mali.

It will be interesting to see how Rodgers plans to use the youngster at Anfield but he’s sure to progress quicker into the first team at Liverpool than at Barcelona where he’s got the likes of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar standing in his way.
Traore is predominantly a right winger but can also play on the left if needed so perhaps he’s being viewed as a potential long-term replacement for the departed Raheem Sterling.
