World Class Striker Set To Join Arsenal On £6.3m-Per-Season, 4-Year Deal
An Italian journalist claims that Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is set to join Arsenal on a four-year contract worth around £6.3m-per-season.
With the summer transfer window in full swing, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal are tipped to sign Karim Benzema…
An Italian journalist claims that Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is set to join Arsenal on a four-year contract worth around £6.3m-per-season, according to the Daily Star.
Benzema has been constantly linked with a move to Arsenal this summer with the Metro reporting last month that Arsene Wenger has held preliminary talks with the striker about a possible move to North London.
The boss has done his best to try and play down the speculation but the rumours have been steadily intensifying and Spanish outlet AS reported last week that Wenger has set aside a record £46m to try and finally lure the French hitman to the Emirates.
There has been a fresh development today with Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli sending Gunners’ fans into a frenzy after claiming on Twitter that Benzema is set to join Arsenal on a four-year deal and is excited about the opportunity to play under Wenger.
He Tweeted:
“Benzema will join Arsenal. 4 years contract at €9mln/y.”
“Benzema told to his entourage that he’s excited about Wenger and Gunners. He loves Arsenal fans.”

Giulianelli works for the likes of La Gazzetta dello Sport, FIFA Weekly and Four Four Two so he does have some credibility but it remains to be seen how much truth there is being these sensational claims.
Obviously Arsenal fans are drooling at the mouth at the prospect of Benzema joining the club, and rightly so as he’d be an excellent signing who’d make us genuine title challengers next season.
The 27-year-old has scored 214 goals in 449 games throughout his career so he’s unquestionably one of the best finishers in world football and him leading the line in front of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott would be a frightening prospect.
I do think something is up with the player at Madrid as Rafa Benitez doesn’t seem to be his biggest fan and the Spaniard has been experimenting with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo up front in pre-season.
If that continues into the new campaign, then Benzema will be out in the cold and I can’t imagine he’ll be happy to sit on the bench for too long – especially with the 2016 European Championships coming up next summer.

The Telegraph have just reported that Wenger is indeed still hoping to sign Benzema this summer but they stop short of supporting Giulianelli’s claims that a move is a ‘done deal’, so we should probably not get too excited just yet and wait to see how things develop over the coming days.
