Transfer News: Chelsea Finalising Deal For Brazilian Hitman
Chelsea are finalising a deal to take Brazilian hitman Alexandre Pato to Stamford Bridge on an initial loan deal until the end of the season.
With the winter transfer window in full swing, manager’s are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season. Today, Chelsea close in on Alexandre Pato….
Chelsea are finalising a deal to take Brazilian hitman Alexandre Pato to Stamford Bridge on an initial loan deal until the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.
Interim boss Guus Hiddink has previously suggested he’s on the look out for striking reinforcements with Radamel Falcao struggling to overcome a thigh injury that’s kept him out since October.
Pato has emerged as something of a surprise target this month with ESPN reporting last week that the 26-year-old had agreed personal terms over a switch to West London.
All that remained was for Chelsea to agree a deal with Pato’s current club Corinthians and it looks like things are moving in the right direction as the Daily Mail claim that the Blues were finalising terms on Sunday night.
The newspaper states that Chelsea are looking to take Pato on loan for the rest of the season with a view to making the move permanent in the summer if things work out for all parties.
We’ll have to wait and see whether they are able to get a deal over the line before the transfer window shuts next week but it would be an interesting signing if Pato does end up moving to Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian was once viewed as one of the most promising strikers in European football having scored 63 goals in 150 appearances during his time at AC Milan but a spate of injuries hampered his progress and he eventually returned to Brazil in 2013.
Pato found some form while on loan at Sao Paulo last year, scoring 26 goals, and the striker has recently suggested he’s now ready to test himself in the Premier League.
Speaking to the Daily Mail last month, Pato is quoted as saying:
‘One day I knew I would like to come to England because I think the championship is No 1 in the world,’
‘It is very competitive. I like the emotion in the English league.’

It looks like Chelsea are now ready to give him the opportunity to try his luck in England and should Pato complete his move to West London, we may see Loic Remy leave on loan after struggling to establish himself since joining the club in 2014.
