Arsenal & Man Utd On Alert As Angry Sturridge Eyes Liverpool Exit
Arsenal and Man Utd have been placed on alert with Daniel Sturridge set to quit Liverpool after growing unhappy at how the club portrays his poor injury record
With the winter transfer window closed, manager’s are now looking ahead towards the summer and planning deals for next season. Today, Daniel Sturridge is linked with a move away from Liverpool…..
Arsenal and Manchester United have been placed on alert with Daniel Sturridge ready to quit Liverpool this summer after growing increasingly unhappy at how the club portrays his poor injury record, according to the Daily Mail.
Sturridge has endured another hugely frustrating season with a number of injury problems restricting him to making just six appearances in all competitions so far this campaign.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has publicly voiced his concerns over Sturridge’s fitness while several former Anfield stars, including Phil Thomson and Dietmar Hamann, have suggested it’s time Liverpool ditch the player and bring in a more reliable replacement.
The Daily Mail are one of several media outlets who are reporting today that Sturridge is now growing increasingly angry over the perception that he lacks the desire to overcome his injury woes and now feels a move this summer is required if he’s to fulfill his obvious potential.
There would be no shortage of takers if Sturridge is available for transfer this summer and the newspaper claims that Arsenal and Man Utd will be among the clubs showing a keen interest if the Merseysiders decide it’s time to cash-in.
The 26-year-old still has two-and-a-half-years to run on his current contract at Anfield and has the potential to be worth north of £50m, however, the Daily Mail suggest that Liverpool may be forced to sell at nearer £20m due to the strikers poor fitness record.
Gunners’ fans have been crying out for Arsene Wenger to sign a top class striker in recent transfer windows and although Sturridge no doubt has the quality the North Londoners are looking for, it would be a huge gamble to sign the England ace given his injury problems.
United could certainly do with more firepower up front as Louis van Gaal has been overly-reliant on Wayne Rooney through the middle this season but I personally don’t see Liverpool agreeing to do business with their North-West rivals any time soon.
It’s going to be extremely interesting to see how this all plays out and much could be decided over the next few months. Sturridge returned to full training on Wednesday and is set to make his long-awaited return to the first team next week as long as he doesn’t suffer any more setbacks.

If the striker makes a successful return and is able to play a large part of Liverpool’s run-in, I don’t see them giving up on him this summer. However, if the striker continues to struggle with injuries over the coming weeks, then Klopp may decide it’s best to cash-in, which would put a host of rival clubs on alert.
