A below-par Arsenal were held to a 0-0 draw by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this afternoon to leave us sitting fourth in the Premier League table.
Here are my ratings from the game:
Cech 7.5/10 | Made two excellent saves to deny Defoe and Khazri after the break and secure the clean sheet.
Bellerin 5/10 | Weak header almost led to a goal and his delivery was disappointing when going forward.
Mertesacker 6/10 | Fortunate not to concede a penalty when Defoe’s shot struck his hand.
Koscielny 7.5/10 | Made a couple of excellent interceptions which prevented clear goal-scoring chances.
Monreal 6/10 | A little suspect at the back and when he did get forward to help out in attack, his crossing was poor.
Ramsey 5/10 | Disappointing game by the Welshman. Had no real influence on the game other than playing simple passes around the midfield.
Elneny 7/10 | Neat and tidy in possession and did well to break up play.
Sanchez 7/10 | Had a header cleared off the line and saw his free-kick well saved. Otherwise, he wasn’t really on top form.
Ozil 6/10 | Struggled to get in the game and have his usual influence.Perhaps it was Sunderland’s high intensity that led to him being snuffed out.
Iwobi 6/10 | Lively display but things just didn’t come off for him. Maybe it’s time to give the youngster a break.
Giroud 4/10 | Awful performance from the Frenchman. Looks short of confidence in front of goal, which is understandable considering he’s gone 14 games without a goal. Hold up play was non-existent too.
Subs:
Walcott 6/10 | Couple of nice crosses but little else.
Welbeck 6/10 | Added some much needed movement up front but couldn’t fine the goal we needed.
Wilshere 6/10 | Probably the highlight of the game was seeing Jack make his first appearance of the season.
The result leaves us fourth in the table on goal difference from Manchester City but Manchester United can move to within just two points with three games to play if they win their game in hand.
