Xhaka Describes Arsenal As ‘Awesome’ After Gladbach Confirm Deal Has Been Agreed

Granit Xhaka has fuelled talk of a move to Arsenal after describing the Gunners as an ‘awesome club’ after Gladbach confirmed a deal is in place for his sale

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Granit Xhaka talks-up a move to Arsenal…

Granit Xhaka has fuelled talk of a move to Arsenal after describing the Gunners as an ‘awesome club’ after Borussia Monchengladbach confirmed a deal is in place for his sale this summer.

Xhaka has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in recent months and the Evening Standard reported last week that we’d formalised our interest after tabling a £33.8m bid.

That offer was believed to have fallen just short of Gladbach’s initial valuation but the Mirror then claimed earlier this week that we’d agreed a deal in principal with the Bundesliga club for Xhaka’s signature.

Gladbach then confirmed last night that they have an agreement in place for the Swiss international but refused to confirm the bidding club. The Daily Star quote Gladbach as saying on their website:

“There has been a specific offer for the Swiss midfielder [Xhaka].

“[We have] an agreement with the interested club but [it] is still pending.”

Obviously it’s been assumed that Arsenal are the club in question given the amount of speculation surrounding a move to the Emirates and Xhaka himself has now fuelled the fire even further after telling reporters that Arsenal are an ‘awesome club’.

Speaking at a press conference following the announcement of the Swiss national squad for Euro 2016, Xhaka was quizzed about his proposed move to Arsenal and he’s quoted by Swiss newspaper Blick as saying:

“As of today I am Gladbach. But London is beautiful city – and Arsenal is an awesome club “.

So I think it’s safe to say that given all of the evidence above, Xhaka’s move to Arsenal is close to completion. The player has said several times that he wants things resolved before the start of Euro 2016 on June 10th, but I think it will be wrapped-up before the end of this month.

Let’s hope that turns out to be the case as Xhaka would be an excellent signing for Arsenal. With Arteta and Flamini leaving next month we desperately need to bring in another midfielder and the 23-year-old is exactly the type of player we need.

He’s a deep-lying playmaker who’s known for his superb passing range and is also not afraid of the physical side of the game – 8 red cards in his career so far is testament to that – so I think he’ll fit in perfectly at the Emirates.

i would love to see xhaka play for arsenal and probably fo ahead to captain the side. It wudd also be interesting to see that he’s signed by arsenal before the euros, he would be a great addition after the iminent departures of rosciky, arteta and flamini

Seeing is believing. Once. ‘beaten’ is twice shy. I hope we AFC have learn from last season story on Vidal’s
Agreement in principle make up by a south American pundit, who swore to resign if her story does not come to pass.

The best signing every right thinking AFC fans want to see is a new manager like Diego Simone.

Go support Attletico bro, Wenger is a terrific coach and there aint no one better than him out there. Besides who wants the boring 1-nil game played by Simone. Another George Graham, no no no we have advanced so much under Wenger, we want no regression! If you want that kind of football, you are supporting the wrong club jo! Gunner 4 life!

I think a majority of Arsenal fans want Arsene to stay. I know I do. Diego Simione looks good from far but the football is far from good. Give any manager No Money and ask him to do his best. The best only went to finals and qualification for the champions league every season. Incredible Wenger. He was a mug job for not leaving in 2004 and going to city or madrid or even barca. He sacrificed a truckload of trophies and money to be loyal to Arsenal and reassure the banks the club was stable (no stadium loan without this) even though he knew it would be as a skint manager. Wenger is equal to Chapman and can stay as long as he wants.

Well,we might sell Theo, the ox,and metersacker but for Wenger will delay up to the end of the transfer window without buying new players.

    Hi there.
Love to join in banter on Arsenal FC.

Look like Arsenal FC had offered £19m, less than Kante’s alleged £20m “get-out” clause.

I see another vintage Arsene Wenger’s performance of never over-paying and will certainly walkaway due to over-pricing and will move on to his “B”-list”.

Can’t see this transfer sealed even by July with brinksmanship who will blink first … unless other suitors will quickly jump in … like what Napoli did by matching Real Madrid’s valuation and bought Higuian with Arsene Wenger refusing to pay RM’s valuation.
