The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd and Chelsea appear set to miss out on Leroy Sane….
Manchester City appear to have beaten off competition from rivals Manchester United and Chelsea to secure a £40m deal for Schalke star Leroy Sane, according to a report in the Express.
Sane has developed in to one of the hottest young properties in European football since breaking in to the Schalke first team in 2014 having progressed through the clubs youth team set-up.
The 20-year-old has just come off the back of an impressive campaign that saw him score 8 goals and provide 6 assists in his 33 appearances to help guide Schalke to a fifth placed finish in the Bundesliga table.
His potential has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs with the Express claiming that Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been showing a keen interest in his services this summer.
Incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte is expected to be busy in the transfer market once he officially takes over at Stamford Bridge next month while Jose Mourinho is also undertaking an overhaul of the United squad following his appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor and Sane was seemingly on the duo’s radar.
However, it appears they have missed out as the Express are reporting that Man City have won the race for the German youngsters signature having agreed a £40m deal with Schalke.
Pep Guardiola has already made his intentions clear with the signing of Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund and the newspaper suggests that Sane will become the City bosses second new signing after he returns from international duty with Germany at Euro 2016.
It remains to be seen how much truth there is behind these reports and with so much speculation around these days it’s worth taking things with a pinch of salt but Sane would be an exciting signing if City have secured a deal.

The youngster has predominantly played as a right-winger for Schalke but he’s also capable of playing anywhere across the attacking three positions behind the striker so he’d give Guardiola plenty of options if he was to make the move to City this summer.
