[Video] Wenger Reveals Jamie Vardy Decision Over Proposed £20m Arsenal Move
Arsene Wenger has suggested that Jamie Vardy has decided to snub a £20m move to Arsenal and remain with Leicester City this summer.
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsene Wenger says Jamie Vardy will stay at Leicester….
Arsene Wenger has suggested that Jamie Vardy has decided to snub a £20m move to Arsenal and remain with Leicester City this summer.
Vardy’s future has been the subject of intense speculation over the past few weeks after the Mirror reported at the start of the month that Arsenal had agreed to trigger the striker’s £20m release clause.
The newspaper claims that Vardy verbally agreed personal terms after meeting with Wenger but the move stalled when Leicester came in with a last ditch attempt to keep him after offering the striker an improved deal.
The 29-year-old flew-out to France with the England squad without completing his proposed move to the Emirates after deciding to mull over his future during the European Championships.
There have been rumours circulating recently that Vardy was leaning towards staying at the King Power and it appears Wenger has now confirmed that the striker is set to snub his move to Arsenal.
The boss has been speaking on Japanese television and when asked for an update on Vardy’s situation, Wenger said that from the information he’s been given, it looks like he’s decided to stay at Leicester.
“Jamie Vardy is, at the moment at Leicester,” the Arsenal boss told Japanese TV.
“And, on what I know, he will stay at Leicester.”
Obviously there is still time for the striker to change his mind but it appears Vardy has indicated that he’s set to snub Arsenal to remain with the newly-crowned Premier League champions.
If we do miss out, then it will be interesting to see who Wenger goes for next as we desperately need to sign another top class striker this summer to compete with Olivier Giroud next season.

Danny Welbeck is out for nine months with a knee injury and Theo Walcott is being tipped to leave this summer so if Vardy has rejected a move to North London, I hope Wenger has some top alternative targets in mind.
