Man Utd In Talks With Agent Of Chelsea Target Amid Reports Of £80m Bid
Manchester United are in advanced talks to beat Chelsea to the signing of a French super-star amid reports they’ve submitted an £80m bid.
The opening of the summer transfer window is almost upon us so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are in pole position to land Paul Pogba….
Manchester United are in advanced negotiations with Paul Pogba’s agent to discuss a mega-money move from Juventus this summer, according to Spanish outlet AS.
Pogba’s future has once again been speculated about in the media in recent months with the Daily Mail claiming last week that Manchester United and Chelsea were among the clubs showing a keen interest in signing the midfielder this summer.
The 23-year-old’s agent, Mino Raiola, has also claimed that the Premier League duo are among the clubs he regularly holds talks with about a potential move, although at the time he also revealed that Real Madrid were in the running for his signature.
Raiola is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News earlier this month:
“It is not a secret. Every year I meet with Madrid, but also with United, Barcelona, City, Liverpool, Chelsea.
“That is my job. In the last two years my relationship with Real Madrid is clear and professional. Now there is serious dialogue, it’s positive.
“There are other important clubs like United, that was part of (Pogba’s) life, Barcelona likes three attackers, PSG is Paris and he has a house there. But then there is Real Madrid.”
Incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte knows Pogba well as he was the man who took him to Juventus four years ago and it appears the Italian tactician would love to be reunited at Stamford Bridge as he looks to revamp the Chelsea squad following a disastrous season for the West Londoners.
However, it looks like United have moved themselves in to pole position as Spanish outlet AS claims that the Red Devils are now in advanced negotiations with Raiola over a mega-money move to Old Trafford.
The report suggests that United’s strong relationship with Raiola could play a key role in Pogba heading back to Manchester having left the club back in 2012 following a fall-out with Sir Alex Ferguson, with United also close to signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic – two others Raiola clients.
AS also goes on to say that Real Madrid are reluctant to pay the kind of money it will take to land Pogba but the report comes a matter of days after the Sun claimed that United had agreed to meet Juve’s £80m asking price, so it does appear that Mourinho is closing-in on what would be a huge transfer.

However, any potential deal may have to wait as Pogba is currently starring for France at Euro 2016 where he’s helped the hosts reach the quarter finals where they’ll now play Iceland following their stunning win over England.
