Manchester United are ready to launch a record £100m bid for Chelsea and Real Madrid target Paul Pogba and tempt the Juventus star with a bumper contract worth £300,000-a-week, according to the Mirror.
Jose Mourinho has already been busy rebuilding the United squad with attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan recently following defender Eric Bailly and striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in making the move to Old Trafford this summer.
The Portuguese coach confirmed earlier this week that he was still planning to bring in at least one more new addition over the coming weeks with a powerful box-to-box midfielder expected to be next on the ‘Special One’s’ hit-list.
It looks like Pogba is Mourinho’s prime target as the Mirror claim that United are now poised to make their move for the French international midfielder and test Juventus’s resolve with a mammoth £100m bid.
The newspaper suggests that initial contact has already been made and United are hopeful of agreeing a deal that would make Pogba the most expensive player in world football – smashing the £85m Madrid paid for Gareth Bale three years ago.
United aren’t the only club interested in Pogba but the Mirror say that they will blow the likes of Chelsea and Madrid away by offering the 23-year-old a lucrative five-year deal worth a staggering £300,000-a-week.
Pogba has the same agent [Mino Raiola] as recent signings Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic so United and Mourinho will be hoping to use their excellent relationship with Raiola to pull off what would be a sensational coup.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but it would be a huge statement of intent from United if they were able to land Pogba and lure him back to Old Trafford four years after he walked out the club for nothing.
The midfielder left United to join Juventus on a free transfer in 2012 after refusing to sign a new contract following a bust-up with Sir Alex Ferguson over his lack of progression at the club and he’s developed in to one of the best all-round midfielders on the planet during his time in Italy.

However, thoughts of a move will have to be put to the back of Pogba’s mind as he is currently preparing for tonight’s huge Euro 2016 semi-final clash with Germany but we could see United step-up their pursuit once the tournament is over.
