Pogba Latest: Man Utd To Seal Deal Within ‘Hours’ But Madrid Could Yet Hijack Move
Manchester United are hoping to finally secure a deal to sign Paul Pogba within the coming hours but Real Madrid could yet make a late hijack attempt.
The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on the future of Paul Pogba…
Manchester United could finally secure a deal to sign Paul Pogba within the coming hours following fresh negotiations with Juventus and Mino Raiola, according to reports in Italy via the Express.
Pogba’s future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months with the French international tipped to leave Juventus for either Manchester United or Real Madrid in what’s expected to be a world record deal.
United appeared to be in pole position but the Mirror claimed on Tuesday that despite Pogba agreeing personal terms over a sensational return to Old Trafford, his agent Mino Raiola cancelled a planned medical in Miami after the three parties couldn’t agree who’d cover his commission fee – understood to be a whopping 20%.
However, the Express are now citing reports coming out of Italy that claim Raiola, Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta and United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward held fresh talks via conference call last night.
The newspaper says that the officials haggled over a transfer fee between £92m and £100m but further talks are due to be held today with Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport suggesting that a deal is expected to be concluded ‘within the coming hours’.
Juventus have already began spending the Pogba money after splashing out over £75m on the signing of Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli so it’s looking increasingly likely that the midfielder will be securing a move away from Turin.
Based on these reports, United are clearly in the driving seat to land the 23-year-old, however, there could yet be a late twist in the tale as Zinedine Zidane told reporters this morning that Real Madrid remain in the hunt for Pogba’s signature.
The Mirror claim that Madrid could yet hijack United’s move after Zidane is quoted by the paper as saying:
“I don’t know if he will come. Until the 31st of August anything can happen. Everyone is interested in Pogba.
“He’s a great footballer and when you are Madrid you always want the best players.
“But now he’s not a Real Madrid player, he’s a Juventus player. I can’t say anything more.”
It looks like Madrid remain keen on signing Pogba this summer and you can never write the Spanish giants off so I’m sure United will be desperate to try and get a deal agreed with Juve and Raiola as soon as possible before the La Liga outfit make their move.

Jose Mourinho has already splashed out on three new signings with Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic arriving this summer but Pogba would be a major coup for the Red Devils if they could get this proposed deal over the line.
Let’s see how things develop over the coming hours….
