Chelsea Working On £120m Double Swoop As Conte Gets Ready To Splash The Cash
Chelsea are working on a sensational £120m double swoop for a defender and striker as Antonio Conte looks to splash the cash during the next two weeks.
The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are ready to spend some serious money during the closing stages of the window…
Chelsea are working on a huge double deal for Kalidou Koulibaly and Romelu Lukaku that could cost upward of £120m as Antonio Conte gets ready to splash the cash during the closing stages of the window, according to the Telegraph.
Conte has already brought in N’Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi but the Italian tactician is targetting a further two big-money signings over the next fortnight and it appears he has has set his sights on his two main targets.
The Blues boss is expected to bring in another centre-back and has been strongly linked with a move for Koulibaly with the Daily Star reporting earlier this week that Chelsea had submitted an improved £43m bid to Napoli after seeing their initial £38m offer rejected.
The Italian outfit are desperate to keep hold of the Senegal international and have seemingly knocked back that latest offer but it looks like Chelsea are determined to get their man as the Telegraph claim the west Londoners are ready to pay up to £60m to land the 25-year-old.
Koulibaly stands at 6ft 6ins and is a fast and powerful defender who’s developed in to one of the best centre-backs in Italian football over the past 12 months so he’d be a superb signing if the Blues can finally pull it off.
His arrival may allow Conte to revert to his preferred three at the back formation which he deployed so successfully at Juventus but if he sticks with a back-four, then it would cast doubt over the future of Gary Cahill.
It’s not just in defence where Conte is hoping to strengthen as the Telegraph claim that Chelsea will finally test Everton’s resolve with a formal offer for former striker Romelu Lukaku over the coming days.
Conte wants another top class striker to compete with Diego Costa and Batshuayi this season and Lukaku has developed in to one of the best front-men in the Premier League since leaving Stamford Bridge for Goodison Park three years ago.
However, despite selling him for £28m, the Telegraph suggest that Chelsea will have to pay £60m to persuade Everton in to a sale as the Toffees are desperately trying to hang on to their star man for at least another year.
Chelsea are planning to offload Loic Remy to make room for Lukaku and could even use him as a makeweight to land the Belgian international, and that sort of deal may tempt Everton as it would provide them with a huge lump sum as well as a ready-made replacement.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but I think Chelsea would arguably be the title favourites if they could pull off this potential £120m double swoop for Koulibaly and Lukaku before the window closes at the end of the month.
