Man Utd Working On 2 Deals As Mourinho Eyes Late Double Swoop

The transfer window is now drawing to a close so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Manchester United are eyeing a late double swoop….
Manchester United are continuing to work on deals for Jose Fonte and Fabinho as Jose Mourinho looks to add two new defenders to his squad during the closing stages of the window, according to the Daily Record.
Mourinho has publicly suggested that his transfer business is done having brought in four new players this summer but it looks like privately the former Chelsea boss is still planning to pull off a couple of last minute deals.
The Daily Record claim that United are hoping to bring in an experienced centre-back and a top quality right-back with Southampton Jose Fonte and Monaco’s Fabinho his prime targets, however, any moves will be dependent on Mourinho being able to shift two of his current high earners.
Fabinho has developed in to one of the best full-backs in French football since joining Monaco in 2013 and he’s been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks with the Daily Star reporting that United are closing in on a deal that could be worth up to £25m.
Despite helping Monaco qualify for the group stages of the Champions League, the Daily Record says that the Brazilian international has been told a deal with United could be agreed before the end of the month.
The 22-year-old would be a great addition to Mourinho’s squad and Matteo Darmian is the favourite to make-way if a deal for Fabinho is wrapped-up with the Italian tipped to head back to Serie A over the coming days.
Fonte has also been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this month and the Daily Record believe there is a gentleman’s agreement in place with Southampton to allow the Portuguese international to leave if he’s offered a big-money move away from the club.
Obviously United would fall in to that category as they would be able to offer the 32-year-old a lucrative deal and a crack at playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, and Mourinho is actively looking to sell Marcos Rojo in order to make room for his arrival.
Fonte has bags of Premier League experience and has been one of the most consistent defenders in English football since helping Southampton gain promotion to the top flight so I think he’d be a great short-term purchase for the Red Devils.
