Chelsea Make £30m+ Bid To Sign Brazilian Fan Favourite
Chelsea have tabled a sensational £30m plus add ons bid to sign a Brazilian international who is a real fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.
The transfer window is now drawing to a close so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea make their move for David Luiz….
Chelsea have tabled a stunning £30m plus add ons offer for Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz as the Blues try to lure the Brazilian defender back to Stamford Bridge, according to Sky Sports News.
Luiz joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2011 and spent over three years in west London where he made 143 appearances to help the club win three major trophies, including the Champions League in 2012.
The Brazilian international then ended his stay at the club after completing a £50m move to PSG in the summer of 2014 and has helped the French champions win successive domestic trebles.
However, Luiz could now be set for a sensational return to Stamford Bridge as Sky Sports News claim that Chelsea have tabled a £30m plus add ons offer for the centre-back.
The news outlet doesn’t indicate whether the offer has been accepted or rejected but they do say negotiations are ongoing with Luiz understood to be keen on returning for a second spell at Chelsea.
New boss Antonio Conte is desperate to bring in a centre-back before the window slams shut at 11pm tonight and has so far been frustrated in his attempts to sign the likes of Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli.
It appears the Italian tactician has now turned his attention to trying to re-sign Luiz in what would be a sensational move as the former Juventus coach looks to try and finally get his hands on a new defender.
Luis was often criticised for his lack of defensive ability during his first spell at Chelsea but the 29-year-old was a real fan-favourite so I’m sure supporters would welcome him back with open arms.
With N’Golo Kante now patrolling in front of the defence, Luiz would have added protection in front of him and there’s no doubt he was still a great ball-playing centre-back on his day, so this could be a shrewd move from Chelsea.

We’ll have to wait and see whether they can get a deal agreed but PSG may be tempted to cash-in as Luiz gave away a penalty during last weeks defeat to Monaco and was hauled off by new boss Unai Emery, so they may feel now is the time to sell and move Marquinhos alongside Thiago Silva at the back.
