Transfer deadline day is finally here so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Here, David Luiz is heading back to Chelsea…
David Luiz is in London to undergo his medical and complete a sensational return to Chelsea after the Blues agreed a deal worth £38 with Paris Saint-Germain, according to the Mirror.
Antonio Conte has made strengthening his defence his priority during the closing stages of the transfer window and the Italian tactician has been forced to look at alternatives after missing out on several of his prime targets.
The west Londoners have been tracking Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly all summer but have been unable to agree a deal while they also saw two sizeable offers for Alessio Romagnoli turned down by AC Milan last week [source: Mirror].
Conte has been scouring the market for a new centre-back and news broke late on Tuesday night that Chelsea were in negotiations with the French champions about a stunning deal to re-sign the Brazilian international.
Sky Sports News reported that Chelsea had tabled an opening £30m offer for the 29-year-old and while that bid was subsequently rejected by PSG, the Mirror are now one of several media outlets claiming that a deal has been reached.
The newspaper says that Luiz is already in west London to undergo his medical and finalise his move after Chelsea agreed to pay the Ligue 1 champions around £38m – although other outlets suggest the fee is closer to £34m – while well respected French outlet Le Parisien also say Luiz is in London to complete the move.
So it looks like Luiz is heading back to Stamford Bridge in what will be a sensational move after PSG decided to cash-in on the Brazilian at the orders of new boss Unai Emrery, who told Luiz he was no longer considered an automatic starter.
