Agent Confirms Chelsea Will Renew Interest In German Star After Failed Summer Bid
The agent of Niklas Sule has confirmed that Chelsea will renew their interest in the Hoffenheim defender after failing in their attempts to sign him this summer
The summer transfer window is now closed for another year but it’s not time to look back on those deals that didn’t go through and those that are being lined-up for the future. Today, Chelsea are linked with Niklas Sule….
The agent of Niklas Sule has confirmed that Chelsea will renew their interest in the Hoffenheim defender after failing in their attempts to sign the defender this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
Sule has been with Hoffenheim since joining the clubs youth system as a teenager six years ago and progressed through the ranks to become a first team regular in 2013 with almost 70 appearances to his name so far.
The 21-year-old made his debut for the senior German national team in August after playing at every youth level and he also played a key role in helping his country reach the final at the Olympic Games in Rio this summer.
Sule is considered as one of the brightest young defenders in German football and it appears that potential alerted Chelsea with the Evening Standard claiming the Blues tried to sign the centre-back during the summer transfer window.
The defenders agent, Karlheinz Forster, has now confirmed Chelsea’s interest and says that Antonio Conte will continue to monitor Sule’s development over the coming season with a view to renewing his interest next year.
Forster is quoted as saying by the newspaper:
“Yes there was interest [from Chelsea]. The English have made it clear that their interest will remain valid next year.”
Hoffenheim sporting director Hansi Flick is pleased the young defender opted to remain with the club and says it will be good for his career to stay and develop his game further before looking to join a bigger club.
“I think it is good that he is committed to Hoffenheim,” Flick is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard
“He can also continue to develop, can mature more when he spends another one, two years.
“At 23 or 24, he can still take the next step, He has in Forster a consultant who can assess that.”
Conte ended up bringing David Luiz back to Stamford Bridge from Paris Saint-Germain while full-back Marcos Alonso also joined the club from Fiorentina on deadline day but the Evening Standard suggests that the Italian tactician plans to continue to overhaul his defence next summer.

It appears Sule will remain a target for the former Juventus boss over the next 12 months but we’ll have to wait and see whether Chelsea will have more luck signing the highly-rated German international next time around.
