Infographic: A Guide To Premier League TV Deals

Here is an infogrpahic which is a guide to Premier League TV deals and the kind of money that’s being pumped in to game.

Football has developed in to a multi-billion pound industry and the Premier League is now considered as the richest football league in the world.

So we thought this infographic from football betting experts Paddy Power would be of interest, as it’s a guide to Premier League TV deals and the kind of money that’s being pumped in to game.

Since the first ever football game was broadcast on live TV in 1937, the sport has grown rapidly over the years but the game-changing moment came when the Premier League was formed in 1992 and Sky paid £304m for the rights to show live games.

The first TV deal for the 1992/93 season was worth ‘just’ £191m for 60 live games but the value of the Premier League has soared over the past 20 years and the latest deal with BT/Sky was worth a whopping £5.1 billion for 168 live games to be shown.

With so much money being distributed to the clubs, it’s no wonder that it’s had an effect on transfer fees. Stan Collymore became the most expensive British transfer in 1995 following his £8.5m move to Liverpool but Manchester United recently smashed that record by splashing out £89.7m on Paul Pogba.
