Wenger Lining-Up Marco Reus Move As Chelsea Plot Audacious Swoop For Arsenal Star
Chelsea are eyeing a shock swoop for Alexis Sanchez next summer with Arsene Wenger lining-up Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus as a potential replacement
Managers are now planning ahead to try and strengthen their squads during the January transfer window and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are linked with a shock move for Alexis Sanchez….
Chelsea are eyeing a sensational swoop for Alexis Sanchez with Arsene Wenger lining-up Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus as a potential replacement, according to the Telegraph.
Sanchez has been an excellent signing for Arsenal since joining from Barcelona in 2014 having scored 55 goals and provided 33 assists in his 113 appearances so far.
The Chilean international has been converted in to a central striker by Wenger this season and it’s been a huge success with the player already scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists while he’s currently the joint top goal-scorer in the Premier League alongside Diego Costa.
However, could Sanchez end up making a shock move across London to line-up alongside the Brazilian-born hitman at Chelsea next season?
Well according to the Telegraph, Antonio Conte has identified Sanchez as a potential signing and the Blues are now keeping a close eye on the player’s situation as his contract stand-off with Arsenal continues.
Sanchez has just 18 months left to run on his contract and the newspaper says that he’s demanding a whopping £20m-per-season, which works out at around £384,000-a-week, in order to sign an extension.
There is no way Arsenal can afford to pay that kind of money, particularly with Mesut Ozil also demanding a huge pay increase, so it leaves Sanchez’s future at the Emirates in serious doubt and the Telegraph claim that Chelsea are now eyeing a surprise swoop for the striker.
If no extension is signed over the coming months it leaves Arsenal in a tough spot as they can either hold Sanchez to the final year of his contract and lose him for nothing in 2018 or cash-in next summer while they can still demand a transfer fee.
I honestly don’t think the north Londoners would allow such a valuable asset to walk away for nothing so a move could be on the cards at the end of the season unless Sanchez lowers his astronomical wage demands.
Obviously losing Sanchez would be a devastating blow to Arsenal but the Telegraph claim that Wenger is already on the look-out for potential replacements with Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus among his prime targets.
The German international has developed in to one of the best attackers in European football in recent years and he’s capable of playing on the wing or as a central striker so he’d be the ideal replacement for Sanchez if he does end up leaving the Emirates.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but I personally can’t see Arsenal agreeing to sell Sanchez to a direct rival like Chelsea as they’d much prefer to sell him abroad if he doesn’t sign a new deal, but Arsenal fans will be praying it doesn’t come to that.
