Chelsea Team News: Conte Confirms Injury Boost But Duo Ruled Out
Antonio Conte has confirmed an injury boost ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with West Brom but two other players have been ruled out
Chelsea will be looking for a win to cement their position at the top of the Premier League table when they take on West Brom at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Antonio Conte has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s offered a team news and injury update.
The Blues boss confirmed that John Terry is still out as the skipper continues to recover from a buttock injury that’s kept him out of the last two matches against Tottenham and Manchester City.
In a double blow, Conte also revealed that Oscar will miss the visit of the Baggies this weekend as the Brazilian international is suffering from a sickness bug after being an unused substitute during the win at the Etihad last week.
However, there was more positive news on the fitness of Nemanja Matic as Conte says the midfielder has been in full training since Tuesday and is fit and available for selection to face West Brom on Sunday.
Matic missed last weeks win at City due to a minor muscle injury but the Serbian international is now back in contention and will be looking to reclaim his first team place from Cesc Fabregas after the Spaniard filled-in against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Chelsea head in to the weekend action sitting three points clear of Arsenal in the Premier League table following their win over City so Conte will be keen to beat the Baggies and at least maintain that advantage as we approach the hectic festive period.
