Man Utd vs Liverpool Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Prediction
Man Utd take on Liverpool in a huge clash at Old Trafford tomorrow. Here is a preview with team news, line-ups, betting tips and predicted score.
Manchester United entertain fierce rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon in a game that could prove crucial in how things end up at the top of the table.
United head in to the game off the back of a superb run that saw them extend their winning streak to nine games in all competitions with a 2-0 victory over Hull in their EFL Cup semi final first leg on Tuesday night.
That run has seen Jose Mourinho’s side close in on the top four following a disappointing start to the season and United will move to within just two points of Liverpool if they can make it ten wins on the spin tomorrow.
Liverpool on the other hand will be looking to boost their title hopes with a positive result at Old Trafford but the Merseysiders have seen a promising campaign stutter in recent weeks.
Jurgen Klopp’s men haven’t won in their last three games and have failed to score in their last two outings against Plymouth and Southampton to the Reds will be desperate to get back on form tomorrow afternoon.
Team news
Mourinho is set to welcome Zlatan Ibrahimovic back in to the squad after he missed the Hull game through illness while Marcos Rojo could also make his return after recovering from a muscle strain that he sustained last weekend.
Eric Bailly is unavailable due to his participation at the African Cup of Nations while Daley Blind, Michael Carrick and Anthony Martial are pushing for recalls to the starting eleven if Mourinho want’s to freshen things up.
Liverpool have been boosted by the return to fitness of Jordan Henderson after he recovered from a minor heel injury that’s kept him out for the last three games.
Joel Matip has also returned to full training but the centre-back may not be risked after missing the last eight matches in all competitions with an ankle injury.
Philippe Coutinho is set to start after making a successful return from an ankle ligament injury with a substitute appearance against Southampton in midweek.
However, Sadio Mane is away at the African Cup of Nations so Daniel Sturridge could keep his place in attack.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Man Utd 2-1 Liverpool: United are bang in form and this is probably a good time for them to be playing Liverpool as they’ve lost their way over the past couple of weeks. Coutinho, Henderson and Matip aren’t 100% and Mane will be a huge miss for the visitors so I fancy United to edge this one 2-1.
