Undoubtedly this weekend’s big game see’s run-away leaders Chelsea entertain third-placed Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday lunchtime.
Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Liverpool at Anfield in midweek but that result still leaves them with a huge cushion ahead of the rest and Antonio Conte’s side can take a huge step towards reclaiming the title with a win tomorrow.
Arsenal saw their title challenge derailed by a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Watford on Tuesday night and another loss on Saturday would leave the north Londoners 12 points adrift, which would surely end their hopes for another year.
Unfortunately for Arsene Wenger’s side, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson feels his former team are going to get comprehensively beaten at the Bridge against the side that he feels is the best in the country.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said:
Chelsea v Arsenal
Arsenal were shocking on Tuesday against Watford and they won’t be relishing this trip to Stamford Bridge. It’s a must-win game for Arsenal after their defeat to the Hornets, and they have got to go for it against the best team in the country. That will play into Chelsea’s hands. I just can’t make a case for Arsenal here. Chelsea are running away with the league and I think they’ll claim a comprehensive victory.
PAUL PREDICTS: 3-1
If Merson’s prediction proves accurate, then it would end Arsenal’s hopes but it would also be a huge blow to the rest of the chasing pack with Spurs trailing by at least nine points, depending on whether they beat Middlesbrough at White Hart Lane.
