Chelsea Handed Injury Boost As Conte Prepares To Recall These 3 Players In FA Cup
Chelsea have been handed an injury boost as Antonio Conte prepares to recall these three players to the starting eleven for this weekends FA Cup clash
Chelsea have been handed an injury boost with the news that John Terry will make a swift recovery from his ankle injury as Antonio Conte gets set to ring the changes against Wolves on Saturday, according to the Evening Standard.
Terry was forced to miss Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor after suffering a nasty ankle injury in training last week and the skipper posted photos of the gruesome knock on social media.
It sparked fears that the 36-year-old may be set for another spell on the sidelines, however, the Evening Standard claim that Terry is expected to be passed fit for this weekend’s FA Cup clash with Wolves.
Ordinarily, Terry’s fitness wouldn’t be of a huge concern to Conte as the long-serving captain has barely started under the Italian coach this season.
In fact, Terry’s only starts in recent months have come against West Ham in the EFL Cup and during the FA Cup wins over Peterborough and Brentford back in January.
However, the newspaper says that Conte is planning to rotate his starting eleven for Saturday’s trip to Wolves in the FA Cup fifth round with Terry set to be handed a rare start at the back.
The Standard claim that Conte plans to rest the majority of his first team regulars meaning that Kurt Zouma and Nathan Ake are also expected to be handed starts alongside Terry.
David Luiz will be left out in order to rest a niggling knee injury while Gary Cahill will also be rested with Terry and Zouma coming in to the back three this weekend.
Marcus Alonso is also set to be handed a well-earned breather with Ake starting in the left wing-back role in what will be just his second start for the Blues since being recalled from his loan spell at Bournemouth.
I’m sure there will be plenty of other changes in midfield and attack with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Nathan Chalobah, Willian and Michy Batshuayi all pushing for game-time, but those are the only three players the Standard confirm as starters.
