Tottenham Team News: Poch Rules Key Duo Out Of AAA Gent Clash
Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed a double injury blow ahead of Tottenham’s Europa League clash with AAA Gent tomorrow night.
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to turn things around when they entertain AAA Gent at Wembley in the second leg of their Europa League tie tomorrow night.
Ahead of the game, Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given TottenhamHotspur.com a team news and injury update.
The Spurs boss confirmed that Danny Rose is still several weeks away from returning to full training as he continues to recover from a knee injury that he suffered during the 0-0 draw with Sunderland last month.
There were hopes that the injury wasn’t as bad as first feared and that Rose may be back towards the end of this month, however, Pochettino has revealed that the defender is still some way from even being in a position to return to training.
In a double blow, the Tottenham supremo also confirmed that Erik Lamela is still not available for selection as he continues to work his way back to full fitness following a serious hip injury.
Lamela first sustained the problem way back in October and has even spent time at former club Roma trying to overcome the niggling injury in recent months.
Pochettino says the Argentinean international is making good progress and is now back on the training field but he’s still not ready to make his first team comeback.
Poch told the clubs website:
ERIK LAMELA
Erik is making progress and is now working on the field. No date is yet confirmed for a return to full training and his recovery continues to be monitored.
DANNY ROSE
Danny continues to recover and rehabilitate, but remains a number of weeks away from full training.
With Rose still sidelined, Ben Davies is set to continue to deputise at left-back tomorrow night as Spurs welcome Gent to London needing to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg in Belgium.
