Agent Offers Chelsea Hope Of Signing £60m Serie A Star
Chelsea have been handed a boost after the agent of Kalidou Koulibaly admitted that the £60m-rated defender might leave Napoli this summer
The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Chelsea are boosted in their pursuit of Kalidou Koulibaly…
Chelsea have been handed a boost after the agent of Kalidou Koulibaly admitted the £60m-rated defender might leave Napoli this summer, according to a report in the Express.
Koulibaly has developed in to one of the best centre-backs in Serie A since joining Napoli from Racing Genk in the summer of 2014 with the powerful defender a key feature in Mauricio Sarri’s side.
The 25-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last summer with the Daily Star reporting back in August 2016 that Chelsea had submitted an improved £43m offer after seeing several bids rejected by Napoli.
The Italian giants managed to hang on to Koulibaly and Chelsea eventually made a surprise deadline day swoop to sign former defender David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain.
However, it seems Antonio Conte has maintained his interest in Koulibaly as the Express claim the Blues boss is ready to make another attempt to sign the Senegal international this summer.
Conte is in the market for another central defender to replace John Terry and the newspaper says that Koulibaly is a key name among the Italian coaches short-list of targets.
Chelsea have now been offered encouragement from the players agent, Bruno Satin, that they will finally get their hands on the defender after he admitted that Koulibaly could leave Napoli this summer.
Satin is quoted as saying by the Express:
“The player is very relaxed, I saw him after the game [against Real Madrid],”
“At the moment, we don’t want to talk about his future but with a president like this who has a lot to say, it is difficult for us to affirm 100 per cent that he will be staying at Napoli next season.”
“[But] he wants to finish the season on a high even if it will be almost impossible to surpass Juventus for the league title.”
However, while Satin’s comments will alert Chelsea there is still a long way to go before any deal will be agree as Koulibaly is under contract until 2021 and the Express suggest Napoli will demand a fee in the region of £60m for his signature.
We’ll have to wait and see whether Chelsea will be prepared to pay that kind of money but Koulibaly would be an excellent signing if the Blues could get a deal agreed this summer.

The 6ft 6ins defender is powerful and quick on his feet, so he should have no problem adjusting to life in the Premier League and I think he could be the ideal long-term replacement for Terry at Stamford Bridge.
