Mourinho Offers Update After Man Utd Suffer Double Injury Blow Ahead Of Arsenal

Manchester United have suffered a fresh double injury blow with Marcus Rashford and Ashley Young both doubts for Sunday’s trip to Arsenal, reports the Mirror.
Both Rashford and Young were forced off during United’s semi-final first leg victory at Celta Vigo last night adding to Jose Mourinho’s team selection woes ahead of their clash with the Gunners.
Rasford put in a Man of the Match performance having scored a superb free-kick to give United a priceless 1-0 away victory but the striker limped off in the 80th minute to be replaced by Anthony Martial.
Mourinho has now revealed that the young striker was carrying a knock at the start of the game and it seems the 19-year-old aggravated the injury during the match last night.
Thankfully for United the problem doesn’t sound too serious but it remains to be seen whether Rashford will be risked at Arsenal with a huge Europa League second leg next Thursday to worry about.
Mourinho is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“He [Rashford] started the game with a little problem and obviously with the running and continuity – Martial was fresh and we thought we could still score because of plenty of space to play so we tried until the end to win.”
To add to United’s concerns, Young appeared to pick up a hamstring injury during his 12 minute cameo after being introduced as a second half substitute for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The former England international overstretched his hamstring as he attempted to block a cross and went down holding the back of his thigh. After receiving treatment from the medical staff Young was replaced by Chris Smalling and he too is now a major doubt for this weekend’s action.
Mourinho is expected to rotate his side against Arsenal and Young would have been in-line to replace Antonio Valencia at right-back but the United boss may now have to come up with an alternative plan.
The injury concerns appeared to be easing for United after Paul Pogba, Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly were all passed fit to be in the squad last night while Phil Jones is also set to return this weekend.
However, the fresh concerns to Rashford and Young are the last thing Mourinho needed as they could now join Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Timothy Fosu-Mensah in missing the Arsenal game.
Mourinho once again hinted after the win last night that he’ll rest some of his key men for the trip to north London on Sunday which may surprise some fans as United are still very-much in the fight to finish in the top four.
