Transfer News: Tottenham Eye Premier League Star | Liverpool Could Seal £25m Deal
Transfer news: Tottenham are linked with a move for a Premier League star while Liverpool could seal the £25m signing of a French defender.
Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Spurs are linked with a right-back and Liverpool are offered Theo Hernandez…
Spurs eye Smith
First up and the Mirror are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Bournemouth right-back Adam Smith as Mauricio Pochettino prepares for life after Kyle Walker.
The England international’s future at White Hart Lane has been thrown in to doubt amid speculation of a rift with Pochettino and it seems the 26-year-old could be on the move this summer.
That would leave a void needing to be filled and the Mirror say that Spurs are showing a keen interest in re-signing Smith after being impressed by his consistent performances for the Cherries this season.
Smith began his career at White Hart Lane but struggled to make the break through and eventually made a permanent switch to the south coast in 2014 following a number of loan moves.
The 26-year-old has settled well at the Vitality Stadium and has been virtually ever-present to help Eddie Howe’s side maintain their top flight status for another season.

Smith isn’t on the same level as Walker just yet but he’d be a solid back-up if Pochettino wanted to promote Kieran Trippier to be his first choice right-back next year.
Liverpool offered £25m Hernandez
Next up and the Mirror are also reporting that Liverpool have been offered the chance to hijack Real Madrid’s move for Theo Hernandez with Atletico Madrid hoping to get £25m for the defender.
Hernandez has been with Atletico since joining the clubs youth system in 2007 but has struggled to establish himself so was sent out of loan to Alaves last summer.
The left-back has enjoyed an excellent campaign at the Mendizorrotza Stadium as he’s played a key role in helping them secure a mid-table finish in La Liga and reach the final of the Copa del Rey.
The Mirror are citing a report from Marca that claims Hernandez looked set for a £20m switch to Real Madrid and even had his medical but Atletico are now looking to block the move and seek a higher fee.
The newspaper says that Diego Simeone’s side have now sounded out Liverpool and offered them the chance to hijack Madrid’s deal and sign Hernandez for £25m.
Jurgen Klopp desperately needs a new left-back after losing faith in Alberto Moreno and Hernandez would represent an excellent long-term solution for James Milner – who’s been asking to fill-in this season.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Liverpool will be prepared to meet Atletico’s reported £25m asking price but I think it would be a great piece of business by the Merseysiders if they could lure Hernandez to Anfield.
