Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, West Ham are looking to sign four new players this summer…
West Ham are eyeing Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge and Southampton forward Shane Long as Slaven Bilic looks to sign four quality players this summer, according to the Mirror.
The Hammers endured a difficult debut season in their new London Stadium home but despite their troubles Bilic still managed to steer them to an 11th placed finish in the Premier League last season – just one point off eighth.
The Mirror claim the Croatian boss held positive talks with the West Ham board on Monday and Bilic is now targetting four new signings after being given assurances that he’ll continue as manager next season.
The newspaper says chairman David Sullivan is ready to back Bilic in the transfer market and will continue to target top quality names in order to challenge for a top six finish next year.
Right-back Pablo Zabaleta has been strongly tipped to join the Hammers on a free transfer from Manchester City after ending his ten-year stay at the Etihad Stadium.
But it looks as though a top quality striker is also on the agenda and the Mirror claim that Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge and Southampton’s Shane Long are on Bilic’s list of targets.
Sturridge has endured a frustrating season as injuries have hampered the England international striker once again and he ended up making just seven Premier League starts.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to bring in a big-name front-man this summer ahead of Liverpool’s return to the Champions League and Sturridge has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield.
West Ham would be a great option for the 27-year-old and the Londoners would be getting a top class striker if they could just keep him off the treatment table.
Long has also struggled for regular game time at Southampton having made just 10 league starts so a move away from St Mary’s could be on the cards for the 30-year-old this summer.

Personally, I think Sturridge would be a much better signing for West Ham but Long would be a decent alternative if Bilic fails to lure the Liverpool man to the capital.
