South American Star Desperate To Join Man Utd After Rejecting £37m Serie A Switch

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, James Rodriguez is desperate to join Man Utd….
Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez has snubbed a £37m move to Inter Milan because he has his heart set on joining Manchester United this summer, according to a report in The Sun.
Rodriguez joined Madrid in a £60m move from Monaco after starring at the 2014 World Cup but he’s struggled to hold down a regular first team place at the Bernabeu over the past three years.
The Colombian international started just 13 La Liga games last season with the likes of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Isco all ahead of him in Zinedine Zidane’s pecking order.
Understandably, Rodriguez has been strongly linked with a move this summer in search of regular action and he appeared to say his goodbye’s to the Bernabeu fans during the win over Sevilla two weeks ago.
A move to Italy appeared to be on the cards but The Sun are citing a report from Spanish outlet AS that claims Rodriguez has now rejected a proposed £37m move to Inter Milan.
The newspaper says that the attacker snubbed Inter’s advances because he has his heart set on joining Man Utd and will wait to see whether Jose Mourinho formalises his interest over the coming weeks.
United have also been strongly linked with a move for Rodriguez with Sky Sports News reporting earlier this month that Madrid had offered United the chance to sign the South American this summer.
Mourinho is gearing-up for a busy summer as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for top honours next season and it looks as though Rodriguez is desperate to be part of the project at Old Trafford.
I think the 25-year-old would be an excellent addition at United as he’s a superb talent who’s simply not been given the chance to fulfill his potential during his time at Madrid.
That fact he’s capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions means he would be a very useful signing for Mourinho and despite his bit-part role in Spain, Rodriguez has still managed to score 36 goals and provide 41 assists in 111 games for the club.

However, while Mourinho holds an interest in the former Porto star, The Sun suggest that United don’t want to be drawn in to a bidding war and may look elsewhere if the price becomes too inflated.
