Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea and Liverpool are linked with Ruben Neves…
Chelsea and Liverpool have opened initial talks with Porto over a potential deal to sign £35m-rated midfielder Ruben Neves this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.
Neves joined Porto when he was just eight years old and progressed through the youth ranks before breaking in to the first team set-up in 2014 when he was just 17.
The 20-year-old has developed in to one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in Europe and is already a full international with Portugal having represented his country at various youth levels.
However, the youngster is being tipped to leave Porto this summer after they once again missed out on the title to Benfica and it seems he’s attracting interest from the Premier League.
The Mirror is citing a report from Portuguese outlet A Bola that claims Chelsea and Liverpool have made contact with Porto to open discussions about a possible deal for Neves this summer.
The newspaper says Neves’ buyout clause is set at £35m but the English duo will hope to bring the price down as the midfielder has just two years left on his contract and has suggested he wants to leave Porto.
Antonio Conte is expected to further strengthen his Chelsea squad this summer ahead of their return to the Champions League and the Italian could be eyeing Neves as a potential replacement for Nemanja Matic – who’s been linked with a move away this summer.
However, Jurgen Klopp is also gearing-up for a busy few months as he looks to build a squad capable of competing for the title next season and Neves is seemingly also on the Liverpool managers radar as he tries to bring in support for Jordan Henderson in the middle of the park.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but Neves is a hugely exciting talent and I think he’d be an excellent long-term addition for either Chelsea or Liverpool if they could get a deal agreed for his signature.
