Mohamed Salah could undergo his medical this week as Liverpool finalise terms with Roma over a £35m deal to sign the attacker this summer, according to Goal.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to strengthen his attacking options ahead of Liverpool’s return to the Champions League next season and Salah has emerged as a key target in recent weeks.
It was reported by ESPN at the start of the month that Liverpool remained in talks with Roma after seeing their opening £28m offer rejected and it seems they’ve now reached a breakthrough in negotiations.
Goal are one of several media outlets who claim that Liverpool are finalising a deal with the Italian giants that will see them pay £35m including additional add ons for Salah.
The report says the 25-year-old has already agreed personal terms over his move to Anfield and is simply waiting to be given the green light to undergo his medical – which could happen this week.
The proposed deal would equal Liverpool’s transfer record [£35m for Andy Carroll] so it’s certainly a statement of intent by the club as Klopp looks to kick start his summer transfer plans.
The German coach knows he needs reinforcements if Liverpool are to be considered as genuine title contenders next season and the Merseysiders have renewed their interest in Salah after missing out three years ago.
The Egyptian international was initially linked with Liverpool before he joined Chelsea in 2014 and he’s caught their eye once again after rediscovering his best form in Italy following his failed stint at Stamford Bridge.

Salah scored 19 goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions last season so he’ll certainly add some creativity to the Liverpool attack while he’ll provide top class competition for the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane next season.
