Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are linked with Danilo…
Chelsea are expected to wrap-up a £28m deal to sign Real Madrid full-back Danilo with his agent due in Europe to finalise the move this week, according to a report in the Express.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is desperate to strengthen his squad this summer ahead of Chelsea’s return to the Champions League but so far he’s been left frustrated by the clubs lack of transfer activity.
Antonio Rudiger is the only major new addition to arrive so far after the centre-back completed his move from AS Roma but it looks as though Conte is keen to further strengthen his defensive options.
Competition for Victor Moses in the right wing-back role appears to be a priority as the Express claim Chelsea saw an opening £22m offer for Danilo rejected by Madrid last week.
However, the west Londoners haven’t given up the chase and the newspaper is citing a report from Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte that claims Chelsea are now expected to reach an agreement over a £28m deal.
The report says Danilo’s agent is set to fly-in to Europe over the coming days to push through a move after the Brazilian international was persuaded that moving to Stamford Bridge would benefit his career.
Danilo moved to the Bernabeu from Porto in 2015 but has struggled to hold down a regular first team place and managed to start just 17 La Liga games last season with Dani Carvajal Zinedine Zidane’s first choice right-back.
The 25-year-old is currently in the United States for Madrid’s pre-season tour but Danilo could be on his way to west London over the coming week if these reports are accurate.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but Conte will no doubt be keen to get the Danilo deal over the line as he would provide stiff competition for Moses next season.
