Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Nemanja Matic is trying to push through a move to Man Utd…
Nemanja Matic is holding talks with Chelsea as the midfielder looks to try and push through a move to Manchester United by the weekend, according to the Daily Mail.
Matic’s future at Stamford Bridge has been in serious doubt over the past few weeks and the Serbian international edged closer to the exit door after Chelsea agreed a deal to sign Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The Frenchman is expected to undergo his medical in west London tomorrow ahead of his move from the Ligue 1 champions and his arrival is going to see Matic fall further down the pecking order.
The Daily Mail claim Antonio Conte is still keen to keep hold of Matic as he wants plenty of depth in his squad ahead of Chelsea’s return to the Champions League this coming season.
However, the newspaper says Matic and his representatives have held talks with Chelsea chiefs and made it clear he wants to leave with the midfielder hoping to seal his exit by the weekend.
The Daily Mail suggest that despite interest from Inter Milan, Matic wants to push through a move to Manchester United and reunite with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
Mourinho is in the market for a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick and the ‘Special One’ is looking to sign Matic for the second time after being the man to lure the midfielder back to Chelsea in 2014.
The 28-year-old played a key role in helping the Blues win the title in 2015 and it seems Mourinho believes he’s the man to protect his back four and form an exciting midfield alongside Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba next season.
Chelsea are understandably reluctant to do business with a direct rival but the Daily Mail claim that United are willing to offer Matic a lucrative long-term contract if he makes the move to Old Trafford.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but I think Matic would be an excellent signing for United and he’d become Mourinho’s third major addition following the arrivals of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku.
