Man Utd Ready To Hijack Liverpool’s £65m Move As Mourinho Eyes Major Coup
Manchester United are showing a keen interest in signing Naby Keita and are ready to hijack Liverpool’s attempts to secure a £65m deal with RB Leipzig
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are tipped to move for Naby Keita…
Manchester United are showing a keen interest in signing Naby Keita and are ready to hijack Liverpool’s attempts to secure a £65m deal with RB Leipzig, according to a report in the Express.
Jurgen Klopp has been chasing Keita all summer and the Reds boss is desperate to make the Guinea international his third major signing of the transfer window following the arrivals of Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool are yet to agree a deal with RB Leipzig but the Express claim they are set to table a fresh £65m offer this week after seeing a previous £57m bid rejected by the German outfit.
It seems the Merseysiders are already preparing for Keita’s arrival by freeing up a space in their squad with Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva set to join Lazio in a £5m deal.
However, Liverpool could yet face some late competition as the Express are citing a report from Football Whispers that claims Man Utd have now identified Keita as a target of their own.
Jose Mourinho is on the look out for a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick – who turns 36 later this month – and United have been linked with a number of central midfielders in recent weeks.
But it looks as though Keita is now on his radar and the report indicates that United could now try and hijack Liverpool’s attempts to sign the midfielder from under their rivals noses.
United obviously have the financial muscle to afford Keita and they’ve already shown this summer that they are capable of pulling off a major coup after trumping Chelsea to the £75m signing of Romelu Lukaku.
We’ll have to wait and see whether United are able to do the same with Keita but I think he’d be a sensational signing for United or Liverpool if either club were able to get a deal agreed with Leipzig.
