Chelsea have made contact with Inter Milan over the signing of Antonio Candreva and the £23m-rated winger is keen on making a move to west London, according to a report in the Express.
Antonio Conte has already been busy in the summer transfer market having signed goalkeeper Willy Caballero, defender Antonio Rudiger, midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and striker Alvaro Morata.
However, the Blues boss is keen to further strengthen his squad with competition for Victor Moses in the right wing-back role on the agenda and he’s been forced to find a new target after missing out on Danilo to Manchester City.
The Express are citing a report from The Sun that claims Conte has turned his attention to Candreva and has now made contact with Inter Milan to discuss a potential deal.
The newspaper suggest that Inter are reluctant to let the 30-year-old leave but may be tempted if their £23m valuation is met as Candreva is understood to be keen on making a move to Stamford Bridge following a disappointing campaign.
Inter haven’t even qualified for the Europa League after finishing seventh in the Serie A last season so Chelsea would be able to offer the Italian international the chance to play in the Champions League.
The report also suggests the Premier League champions are willing to offer him a significant increase on his current £85,000-a-week wages so you can see why Candreva is open to the idea of moving to England.
Conte knows the player well from his time as Italy manager and Chelsea were linked with the 30-year-old back in January so it looks like they have now renewed their interest this summer.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Chelsea will be able to get a deal agreed but Candreva would be a useful signing as he’s capable of playing in the right wing-back role or further forward in attack so he’d give Conte plenty of options, and £23m seems like a reasonable fee in today’s market.
