Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool have reportedly agreed a fee to sign Naby Keita…
Liverpool have finally agreed a club record £75m deal with RB Leipzig to sign Naby Keita as Jurgen Klopp closes-in on one of his prime summer transfer targets, according to a report in the Express.
Klopp has already snapped-up Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson but the Reds boss is still looking to further strengthen his squad and has been desperately trying to land Keita in recent weeks.
The Liverpool supremo is seemingly keen to bring in fresh legs in the middle of the park and Keita has developed in to one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Europe over the past 12 months.
The 22-year-old only joined Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg last summer and was a huge hit in Germany after scoring 8 goals and setting up 8 more for his team mates to help his new club finish second in the Bundesliga.
Liverpool have seen at least two sizeable offers rejected by Leipzig and the German outfit have publicly insisted they have no desire to sell Keita at any price this summer.
However, it seems privately they acknowledge every player has a price and it looks like Liverpool may have got their man as the Express are citing a report from Winner Sports that claims a £74.5m fee has now been agreed between the two clubs.
An apparent unnamed source told the outlet:
“It was in the best interest of all parties to accept this offer.”
The newspaper says the deal will see Liverpool pay Leipzig the majority of the fee up front rather than the £40m they had promised in previous offers and the transfer will be officially announced once the finer details are finalised.
It’s difficult to know how much truth there is behind this latest report as there is so much speculation flying around these days so I would urge caution until something more concrete comes out from a more mainstream publication.

However, there is no doubt Keita would be a sensational signing if Liverpool do end up taking him to Anfield and I think he’d be well worth the club record £75m fee they’ve supposedly agreed to pay.
