Manchester United remain confident of agreeing a deal to sign Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic with Jose Mourinho hoping to sign up to three more players this summer, according to the Independent.
Mourinho took his spending this window past the £150m mark after signing Nemanja Matic from Chelsea with the midfielder following Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku in making the move to Old Trafford.
The ‘Special One’ sees Matic as a vital piece in his jigsaw as the Serbian international’s inclusion in the defensive midfield role will allow Paul Pogba to enjoy much more freedom this season.
However, it seems Mourinho is still on the hunt for further reinforcements as he looks to turn United in to genuine title challengers this season while they will also have Champions League football to contend with again.
The Independent claim Mourinho would ideally like to sign two new full-backs and another attacking midfielder before the end of the month with Perisic still the United bosses primary target.
The Croatian international has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks but Inter Milan have proven difficult to deal with as they are reluctant to sell the winger this summer.
However, the newspaper says that despite the frustration at dealing with the Italian giants, United remain confident they will eventually reach an agreement to sign the £48m-rated winger.
Perisic is exactly the type of wide-man Mourinho is looking for as he’s a hard worker who doesn’t shirk his defensive responsibilities but he’s also a threat in the final third having scored 11 goals and set-up another 12 for his team mates last season.
United are also looking to further strengthen their options at the back and the Independent claim a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier could be done if the price is right.
The Ivory Coast international was once regarded as one of the most exciting young right-backs in Europe so the 24-year-old would offer a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia if United snapped him up this summer.

The final position Mourinho could strengthen is left-back as it was something of a problem area for United last season – although the newspaper does say Mourinho is ready to give Luke Shaw another chance after being impressed with his response to a frustrating campaign last year.
So it looks like it could still be a busy final few weeks of the summer window for United as Mourinho tries to put together a squad capable of competing on all fronts this season.
