Liverpool Still Hoping To Secure Record Deal To Sign 24-Goal Hitman
Liverpool are still in the hunt to sign Kylian Mbappe but will face competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona for the £160m-rated Monaco hitman
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are still in for Kylian Mbappe…
Liverpool are still in the hunt to sign Kylian Mbappe but will face stiff competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona for the £160m-rated Monaco hitman, according to a report in the Express.
Mbappe is the hottest young talent in world football right now after scoring 24 goals and providing 14 assists to help fire Monaco to the Ligue 1 title last season.
The 18-year-old has attracted interest from practically every top club in Europe which has led to Monaco slapping a whopping £160m price-tag on the French international’s head [source: Express].
Liverpool were named among the interested parties earlier in the summer but the rumours linking them with Mbappe have quietened down as Jurgen Klopp focussed his attention on signing Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk.
However, the speculation has resurfaced once again as the Express are citing a report from L’Equipe that claims Liverpool are still in the hunt to sign Mbappe this summer.
Klopp has already signed Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson this summer but it seems the Reds boss could yet bring in another striker to spearhead his attack this season.
Mbappe would obviously be a sensational coup if Liverpool could somehow lure him to Anfield but it seems virtually impossible for the Merseysiders to win this particular race.
Even if the clubs owners were prepared to pay the reported £160m asking price – which would be a club and world [for now] record – they’d have to beat-off severe competition to sign the youngster.
The Express claim that Real Madrid are the clear favourites to land Mbappe but City are also pushing hard while recent reports in the Telegraph suggest Barcelona have entered the chase now that Neymar is heading to PSG.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think it’s almost certain Mbappe will be on the move this month and unfortunately I’d be shocked if he doesn’t end up in Spain.
