Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final weeks of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Renato Sanches…
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is eyeing a late move in the transfer market to try and sign Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches, according to a report in the Liverpool Echo.
Sanches was heralded as one of the most exciting young talents in European football when he joined Bayern from Benfica last summer but his time at the Allianz Arena hasn’t gone according to plan.
The Portuguese international has struggled to establish himself as a first team regular under boss Carlo Ancelotti and made just 17 appearances in all competition last season.
This has led to speculation linking Sanches with a move this summer as the midfielder needs to be playing regular first team football ahead of the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
It seems the 20-year-old could be offered a fresh start here in the Premier League as the Liverpool Echo are citing reports coming from Kicker that claim Liverpool are eyeing a late swoop.
The Merseysiders have been in the market for a central midfielder all summer and Jurgen Klopp could be ready to turn his attention to Sanches after missing out on RB Leipzig star Naby Keita.
The report suggests that Klopp would prefer a permanent deal to a loan agreement and Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge suggested earlier this month that they could cash-in if £43m was put on the table.
Rummenigge is quoted as saying by the Express:
“He [Sanches] won’t get enough minutes at Bayern, so we’re willing to negotiate a loan deal and maybe beyond that,”
“If a club are interested in a Bayern player, they must be ready to deal with significant economic figures. We’ll say that it wouldn’t be bad if a £43million offer came in for him.”
That kind of money certainly wouldn’t be out of reach for Liverpool as they were bidding well in excess of £43m for Keita but it remains to be seen whether Klopp would be willing to match Bayern’s supposed asking price.

We’ll have to see how things develop over the coming days but I think Sanches could be a very shrewd piece of business if Liverpool end up buying him as he has the potential to develop in to a top class player if he’s given the opportunity.
