Tottenham Handed Major Injury Boost Ahead Of Liverpool Clash
Tottenham have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their clash with Liverpool as Victor Wanyama is set to return for huge showdown at Wembley
Tottenham have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their clash with Liverpool as Victor Wanyama is set to return for huge showdown at Wembley later this month , according to the Daily Mail.
Wanyama picked-up a knee injury in pre-season but Spurs initially thought it was a minor issue and the midfielder played in their opening two Premier League games against Newcastle United and Chelsea.
However, he aggravated the problem and has been on the sidelines ever since trying to overcome the niggling injury that’s seen him miss the north Londoners last eight matches in all competitions.
The Kenya international looks to finally be on the road to recovery and Wanyama has been working hard to try and make his return against Real Madrid in the Champions League next week.
However, the Daily Mail claim that game is set to come too soon for the midfielder so Wanyama is now expected to make his comeback when Liverpool head to Wembley on October 22nd.
The news will come as a welcome boost to Mauricio Pochettino as the 26-year-old has been a key player for Tottenham since joining the club from Southampton in 2016.
With Moussa Dembele struggling with a foot injury, Spurs will be delighted to have Wanyama available for the visit of Liverpool later this month but it will be interesting to see who makes way.
Eric Dier has been consistently solid in the holding role this season while Harry Winks has been impressing for club and country in recent weeks so we’ll have to wait and see who Pochettino goes with against the Merseysiders.
