Christian Eriksen has shared a photo of the Tottenham players celebrating in the changing room following their 1-1 draw with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu last night.
Spurs went in to the Champions League group stage clash as the underdogs but took a surprise lead midway through the first half when Harry Kane’s flick at the near post deflected off Raphael Varane and in to the net for 0-1.
Madrid were gifted the perfect opportunity to level things up just before half-time when Serge Aurier fouled Toni Kroos in the area. Cristiano Ronaldo made no mistake from the spot to make it 1-1.
Karim Benzema saw a point-blank header superbly saved by Hugo Lloris after the break before Kane missed a great chance near the end to nick it for Tottenham but they still earned an impressive point in Spain.
The draw leaves Madrid and Spurs level on points at the top of their group with third-placed Borussia Dortmund six points behind so they are well placed to progress to the knockout stages.
Following the game, Eriksen has shared a photo on Instagram of him posing in the Bernabeu changing room with the likes of Aurier, Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld, Michel Vorm, Mousa Dembele, Danny Rose, Heung-min Son and Dele Alli as the players celebrated their draw with the European champions.
