Key Defender One Of 3 Fresh Injury Concerns For Arsenal Ahead Of Tottenham Game
A key defender is one of three fresh injury concerns for Arsenal ahead of Saturday’s huge North London derby against Tottenham
Arsenal have a major injury concern ahead of this weekend’s clash with Tottenham after Laurent Koscielny aggravated his Achilles injury while away on international duty, according to reports in France via Football London.
Koscielny came through the full ninety minutes as France beat Wales 2-0 on Friday night and he didn’t show any sign of discomfort during the friendly match in Paris.
However, Football London are citing reports coming from L’Equipe that claim Koscielny was forced to miss training on Sunday after feeling pain in his Achilles tendon.
The Arsenal defender has been dealing with the on-going injury for the past two years and he’s already spent time on the sidelines this season due to the troublesome issue.
Koscielny is now expected to sit out France’s friendly against Germany tomorrow night and Arsenal will be sweating over his fitness ahead of Saturday’s huge showdown with Tottenham.
Arsene Wenger will be praying the 32-year-old isn’t ruled out as Koscielny is Arsenal’s best central defender and they’ll need him fully-fit in order to deal with the threat of Harry Kane this weekend.
Arsenal also have a concern over Olivier Giroud as the striker has been sent back to North London to be assessed after suffering a thigh injury against Wales on Friday night.
Giroud was withdrawn shortly after scoring the second goal and later revealed he took anti-inflammatories to start the game after feeling his thigh during the pre-match warm up.
In a third blow for the Gunners, the Evening Standard are reporting that Aaron Ramsey has been released from the Wales squad and will miss tomorrow’s night’s friendly with Panama.
Ramsey completed the full ninety minutes against France in Paris but it seems he too has picked up a knock and will now return to London Colney to be checked over by Arsenal’s medical team.
Having doubts over three key players is far from the ideal preparation for Wenger as he looks to close the gap on the top four with a positive result over their north London rivals this weekend.
