The draw for the last-32 of the Europa League was conducted this afternoon and Arsenal have been pitted against Swedish outfit FC Ostersunds.
We eased in to the knockout stages of the competition after finishing top of Group H ahead of Red Star Belgrade having taken 13 points from our six group stage games.
In truth, we took our foot off the peddle as we had one foot in the last-32 after winning our opening three matches and after taking just a point from games against Cologne and Red Star, we finished the group in style by thrashing BATE 6-0 last week.
Arsenal have now been handed a favourable draw as we’ve been paired with Ostersunds – who booked their place in the draw after finishing behind Athletic Bilbao in Group J.
The Swedish side have an average attendance of below 4,000 and the temperature in Ostersund in February will be around -6 so it’s certainly going to be an interesting away trip.
However, four years ago they were playing in the Swedish third tier so Arsene Wenger and his second string should be more than confident of beating them over two legs to progress to the last-16 of the Europa League.
Elsewhere in the draw, Scottish champions Celtic face a tough task as they’ve been draw to face Zenit St Petersburg in the last-32 after dropping down from the Champions League.
The first legs will be played on February 15th 2018 with the return legs being played the following week on the 22nd.
