Arsenal Want Deal Wrapped-Up Within 48 Hours After Submitting £50m Bid
Arsenal have submitted an improved £50m bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and have told Borussia Dortmund they want the deal completed within 48 hours
The January transfer window is in full swing so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer. Today, Arsenal close-in on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang…
Arsenal have submitted an improved £50m bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and have told Borussia Dortmund they want the deal completed within 48 hours, according to the Mirror.
Aubameyang has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal this month after Arsene Wenger identified him as the ideal replacement for Alexis Sanchez following his move to Manchester United.
We intensified our pursuit over the weekend after chief executive Ivan Gazidis and head scout Sven Mislintat arrived in Dortmund to hold formal talks over a deal to sign the hot-shot striker.
After seeing our opening £45m offer turned down, the Mirror are now reporting that we’ve returned with an improved bid worth around £50m and told Dortmund we want talks wrapped-up within 48 hours.
The newspaper cites Bild as saying we’re prepared to offer Aubameyang a lucrative contract worth £17.5m-per-season if he makes the move to North London but Dortmund are holding out for a fee in the region of £60m.
Olivier Giroud has been discussed as a possible makeweight in the deal as Dortmund want the Frenchman on loan for the rest of the season to act as a direct replacement for Aubameyang.
It remains to be seen whether Giroud is open to the idea of moving to Germany but it seems his inclusion in the deal is going to be a decisive factor in us agreeing terms with Dortmund for Auabmeyang’s signature.
Giroud isn’t going to be getting regular first team football if he stays at Arsenal so a move to Dortmund should appeal to the striker as he needs to secure his place in the French squad for the World Cup this summer.

If we can land Aubameyang, he’ll link up with former team mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan following his move from Man Utd and I’d love to see the pair lining-up for Arsenal during the second half of the season so let’s hope we can get this deal over the line.
