Tottenham take on Juventus at Wembley in the Champions League tonight. Here is a preview with team news, line-ups and predicted score
Tottenham will be looking to book their place in the quarter finals of the Champions League when they take on Juventus at Wembley this evening.
Spurs showed their quality after coming from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw form the first leg in Turin with Christian Eriksen’s free-kick securing a vital draw to take back to London.
The result puts Tottenham firmly in the driving seat but they’ve only reached the quarter finals of the competition once in their history while Juventus have made two of the last three finals.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men warmed up for the game with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town to extend their unbeaten run with Tottenham not tasting defeat since December 16.
However, Juve are also on a long unbeaten run themselves as their 1-0 win over Lazio on Saturday night means they’ve not been defeated since November 19th so something’s got to give tonight.
Team news
Tottenham will continue to be without Toby Alderweireld as the defender is still working his way back to full fitness from a hamstring injury so Davinson Sanchez will start alongside Jan Vertonghen.
Full-back Serge Aurier is suspended so Kieran Trippier will come in at right-back while Danny Rose could be recalled on the opposite side of defence.
Juventus will be without Mario Mandzukic, Juan Cuadrado and Federico Bernardeschi, however, Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia De Sciglio are in the squad.
Expected line-ups
Predicted score
Tottenham 2-1 Juventus: The visitors know they need to score to progress so they can’t just sit back which should suit Tottenham. The first goal is going to be vital in this game and if Spurs can hold their nerve against an experienced Juventus side then I think they have the quality to get a result at Wembley. Pochettino’s men are in great form and I’m backing them to win 2-1 which will see them progress 4-3 on aggregate.
