Bad News For Chelsea: Man Utd Confident Of Signing £30m South American
Manchester United are confident of pulling-off a £30m swoop on Chelsea to sign Willian as Jose Mourinho looks to replace Juan Mata this summer
The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Willian….
Manchester United are confident of pulling-off a £30m swoop on Chelsea to sign Willian as Jose Mourinho looks to replace Juan Mata this summer, according to the Sun.
Willian joined Chelsea from Shaktar Donetsk in a £27million deal back in 2013 and he’s helped the west Londoners win two Premier League titles over the past four years.
The Brazilian international has been one of Antonio Conte’s most consistent players this season having provided 13 goals and 11 assists in his 47 appearances in all competitions.
However, Willian’s future at Stamford Bridge has been cast in doubt recently as he’s approaching the final two years of his current deal and talks over a new contract have failed to progress.
United were strongly linked with a move for the South American attacker last summer and it looks like Mourinho is hoping he can finally be reunited with Willian at Old Trafford.
The Sun claim United will renew their interest in the 29-year-old at the end of the season and the Manchester giants are reportedly confident a deal can be done this time around.
Chelsea had hoped Willian would extend his stay in west London but they may decide to cash-in this summer while they can still command a sizeable fee if he doesn’t sign a new contract over the coming months.
The Blues have shown in the past with the sales of Mata and Nemanja Matic that they’ll do business with United if the money is right and the Sun suggest they may sell Willian if £30m is put on the table.
United obviously have the financial firepower to meet that asking price and the newspaper says Willian has been lined-up as a replacement for Mata – who’s being tipped to leave this summer.
The Spaniard has struggled to hold down a regular place in Mourinho’s starting eleven this season and with the midfielder turning 30 this month, it seems United are ready to cash-in.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the next few weeks but I think it would be excellent business by United if they could sell Mata and bring Willian to Old Trafford as a replacement.
