Chelsea Steal March On Liverpool & Man Utd By Opening Talks To Sign £35m Star
Chelsea have stolen a march on Liverpool and Manchester United after opening talks with Nice over a potential deal to sign Jean-Michael Seri
The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Jean-Michael Seri…
Chelsea have stolen a march on Liverpool and Manchester United after opening talks with Nice over a potential deal to sign Jean-Michael Seri, according to the Daily Mail.
Seri has developed in to one of the best all-round midfielders in French football since joining Nice from Pacos de Ferreira in 2015 while he’s also now a regular with the Ivory Coast national team.
The 26-year-old has attracted interest from several top clubs throughout Europe for his all-action displays and he was reportedly close to joining Barcelona last summer before a deal fell through.
Seri has also caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as the Daily Mail claim that Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd have all registered their interest in signing the midfielder ahead of the summer.
Jose Mourinho is expected to sign at least one central midfielder as Michael Carrick will retire in June while Marouane Fellaini’s contract will expire at the end of the season and he’s no closer to signing an extension.
Jurgen Klopp is also in the market for a new midfielder as Emre Can’s future at Anfield is in serious doubt with the German international’s contract up in June and no agreement over a new deal is likely to be reached.
Seri is seemingly a key target for the north-west giants, however, it looks like Chelsea have stolen a march on their rivals as the Daily Mail claim they’ve now opened talks with Nice over a potential deal.
The Blues are also expected to strengthen their options in the middle of the park this summer as Tiemoue Bakayoko has struggled to settle following his move from Monaco and Seri has now emerged as a prime target.
It’s no wonder so many clubs are circling the Ivory Coast star as the Mail claim his release clause is set at just under £35m – which is a bargain in today’s market for a player of his quality.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming weeks as I’m sure the likes of United and Liverpool will also step-up their interest in Seri, but I think the midfielder will be an excellent signing if any of the English trio win the race for his signature.
