The transfer window may be closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea and Man Utd are linked with Eder Militao…
Chelsea have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Sao Paulo’s £20m-rared defensive midfielder Eder Militao this summer, according to the Mirror.
Militao has been with Sao Paulo his entire career and has progressed through the youth ranks to become a regular in the first team squad over the past year.
The 20-year-old’s potential has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as the Mirror claim that Man Utd and Man City have been showing a keen interest ahead of the summer window.
Jose Mourinho is expected to sign at least one central midfielder as Michael Carrick will retire in June while Marouane Fellaini is set to leave when his contract expires after failing to agree terms over an extension.
It seems Mourinho has earmarked Militao as a potential target but Pep Guardiola is also in the market for a defensive midfielder to act as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho and the City boss is also eyeing the Sao Paulo youngster.
However, it looks like the Manchester giants will face stiff competition as the Mirror says Chelsea have now joined them in the chase to sign Militao at the end of the season.
The Blues are expected to overhaul their squad this summer following a disappointing campaign and central midfield is an area that could become a priority.
Tiemoue Bakayoko is being tipped to head back to France after struggling to make an impression following his move from Monaco while Danny Drinkwater is also reportedly unsettled due to a lack of playing time.
The Mirror says Chelsea are keen on Militao because of his versatility with the Brazilian U17 international comfortable playing as a defensive midfielder or as a centre-back.

However, the West Londoners will need to fend off interest from United and City while the report says Sao Paulo are demanding around £20m for Militao’s signature so it’s going to be interesting to see where he ends up if he does come to England.
