Man Utd Handed Major Injury Boost Ahead Of FA Cup Final Showdown With Chelsea

Manchester United have been handed a major injury boost with the Mirror reporting that Romelu Lukaku is expected to be fit to face Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
Lukaku needed treatment shortly after half-time during United’s 2-1 victory over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon after being on the wrong end of a strong challenge from Gunners debutante Kontantinos Mavropanos.
The striker tried to continue but was eventually forced off and limped from the field to be replaced by Marcus Rashford in the 50th minute at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho admitted immediately after the game he wasn’t sure whether Lukaku would be fit to face Chelsea in the FA Cup final on May 19 so the striker was initially a doubt for the Wembley showpiece.
United are still waiting for scan results to come back to determine the full extent of the injury but the Mirror claim that initial indications suggest the problem isn’t serious and Lukaku should be fit to face Chelsea.
The newspaper says the 25-year-old is expected to be back before the end of the Premier League season – which ends on May 13 – so Lukaku will have plenty of time to get fully-fit ahead of the cup final.
Rashford or Anthony Martial are likely to start against Brighton on Friday night but Lukaku could play some part in United’s final two league games against West Ham and Watford before the Chelsea clash.
The news will be a huge boost to United as Lukaku is Mourinho’s first choice striker and has enjoyed a solid debut season at Old Trafford having scored 27 goals since arriving from Everton.
