Tottenham are ready to steal a march on Manchester United by launching a £20m swoop to sign Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney this summer
The summer transfer window is fast approaching and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Kieran Tierney…
Tottenham are ready to steal a march on Manchester United by launching a £20m swoop to sign Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney this summer, according to the Scottish Sun.
Tierney has been at Celtic since joining the club as a child and has progressed through the youth system to emerge as one of the best defenders in Scottish football in recent years.
The 20-year-old is now an integral part of Brendan Rodgers’ starting eleven and has even captained the side to help his boyhood club clinch yet another Scottish Premier League title this season.
Tierney is also now a regular with the Scottish national team and his potential has alerted clubs in the Premier League with Manchester United and Tottenham among those strongly linked recently.
The Scottish Sun says Jose Mourinho’s scouts have identified Tierney as a potential replacement for Luke Shaw – who’s being tipped to leave Old Trafford after failing to establish himself at United.
However, it looks like Tottenham are ready to steal a march on their rivals as the newspaper claims Spurs are lining-up a £20m swoop for the Celtic youngster ahead of the summer.
Mauricio Pochettino is in the market for a new left-back amid speculation that Danny Rose will be on the move this summer after failing to win back his first team place since recovering from a knee injury.
The Scottish Sun says Tottenham scouts have kept a close eye on Tierney throughout the season and Pochettino has now made the Scotsman a prime summer transfer target.

No doubt Celtic will be desperate to keep hold of their star man and the player is tied to a long-term contract but Tierney may find it difficult to turn down a move to England if the likes of Spurs or United come calling.
