Manchester United and Tottenham may face competition from Atletico Madrid in the race to sign Celtic’s £20m-rated full-back Kieran Tierney this summer, according to the Sun.
Tierney is a boyhood Celtic fan having been with the club since a child and he’s progressed through the youth system to become one of the best defenders in Scottish football.
The 20-year-old is a vital member of Brendan Rodgers’ starting eleven and despite his young age, Tierney has already captained the Hoops and the senior Scotland national team.
His potential has alerted clubs here in the Premier League as the Sun claims that Tottenham and Manchester United have been showing a keen interest in signing the talented left-back ahead of the summer.
Muaricio Pochettino is expected to be in the market for a new left-back with Danny Rose strongly tipped to leave north London after struggling to regain his first team place following injury and Tierney is a key target.
Jose Mourinho is also ready to strengthen his full-back positions and Tierney is being considered as a long-term replacement for Ashley Young as Luke Shaw’s future at Old Trafford is in serious doubt.
However, it looks like United and Spurs face fresh competition as the Sun claims that Atletico Madrid are ready to step-up their interest in Tierney by sending scouts to watch him play in the Scottish Cup final this weekend.
It’s understood the Spanish giants will send their spies to Hampden Park on Saturday to watch Celtic face Motherwell as Tierney’s side look to complete a domestic treble.

The young defender still has five years left on his contract so the newspaper suggests it will take a bid of £20m to tempt Celtic in to a deal this summer but that sort of money shouldn’t be too much of a problem for the likes of Spurs, United or Madrid.
